I have received a call from the Global Mission Unit, Chicago. They are quickly putting together a collaborative study trip to Senegal for February 2010. The trip is from February 2-12 with clear qualifications for those going. They are in need of names to be submitted for this trip. They need Lutherans from our Synod who relate with Muslims, individuals of the Islam faith, in their community. This could be either through their vocation or volunteer service.

This past week I spent time at the Indigenous Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Institute is a two year covenant project with American Indian/Alaska Native leaders and synods/key leaders with significant American Indian Community. The Grand Canyon Synod is a synod with a major concentration of the American Indian Community. Most of our connections with American Indians in our synod is centered at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Rock Point, AZ.
